It is our goal to follow this proposed meeting schedule to accommodate your busy schedules and allow for an abundance of planning time for you to make arrangements to attend our meetings. The PTA meetings are your opportunity to hear from Mr. Barnett and Mr. Carter about upcoming events, testing, proposed projects, and much more. Your questions and feedback are encouraged and welcomed - this is your chance to have your voice heard! We understand that some conflicts are unavoidable so please see our archived Meeting Minutes section below as they are updated throughout the year.

  • A meeting of the PTA was held virtually via Zoom on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

  • A brief Treasurer's Report was provided.

  • The PTA provided updates, which included a summary of PTA events held at the end of 2023, an overview of upcoming events, a sponsor update, and other miscellaneous information.

  • The PTA members in attendance at the meeting also had the opportunity to vote on a theme for the 2023-2024 yearbook. The members in attendance selected the theme "Best in Show." It was noted that every fifth grader will have an opportunity to enter the yearbook cover art design contest.

  • Mr. Barnett and Mr. Carter each provided important updates from the school.

  • We hope you will join us for our next meeting, which will be held virtually via Zoom on Tuesday, February 6 at 7:30 pm!

  • A meeting of the PTA was held in a hybrid in-person/virtual format. Other than some sound quality issues, there were no major disruptions to holding the meeting in this format and the PTA will continue to try to make the meetings as accessible to as many members as possible

  • A brief Treasurer's Report was provided

  • An overview of the PTA committees was provided and open positions were discussed. PTA members were invited to sign up for open committee positions.

  • Upcoming events were reviewed, including:

  • The Westy Wellness Walk (Oct. 11)

  • Trunk or Treat and Outdoor Movie Night (Oct. 13)

  • Friday night indoor kids' social event (Nov. 17)

  • Penguin Patch In-School Holiday Shop (Dec. 4-8) 

  • Donuts with your Grown Ups morning event (Feb. 1)

  • Adult social event (Mar. 2)

  • The PTA members also discussed ideas related to other informal social events for students

  • Sponsorships and fundraising were reviewed, including a review of the top WTES PTA sponsors and the results of the Fall Book Fair. Ideas for future fundraising events were discussed, including another Taharka Brothers ice cream fundraiser and a Clothing to Cash drive, both of which are anticipated for Spring 2024

  • A report from the Teachers was provided

  • Mr. Barnett and Mr. Carter each provided important updates

  • We hope you'll join us for our next meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, November 7!

  • The first PTA meeting of the year was held in conjunction with the annual Back to School Night when parents, guardians, and caregivers get to hear from the teachers about their plans for the school year.

  • Mr. Barnett welcomed all of the families back to the new school year and introduced the amazing teachers and staff at WTES to everyone who was in attendance!

  • The new slate of PTA officers was introduced and elected by the general membership. Welcome to our new PTA officers for the 2023-2034 school year:

    • Julie Saxenmeyer, President

    • Medora Boyle, Vice President

    • AK Parks, Vice President

    • Darcey Peck, Vice President

    • Shannon Hofher Rauser, Secretary

    • Justin Harvey, Treasurer

  • The general membership approved the bylaws of the PTA and the PTA's budget proposal for the 2023-2024 school year

  • Those in attendance heard about the benefits of PTA members, highlights of the PTA efforts from the 2022-2023 school year, and all of the exciting things that the PTA has planned for the 2023-2024 school year

  • Mr. Barnett and Mr. Carter gave remarks and important reminders before the families departed to meet the teachers and staff
